10000 Books Project

Wei-Ling Gallery initiated the 10,000 Books Project, donating art publications worth RM350,000 to 56 educational institutions across Peninsula Malaysia, including national and private schools. Over the past two decades, with more than 121 titles to its name, Wei-Ling Gallery has played a pivotal role in nurturing Malaysia’s contemporary art scene and has gained recognition as a leading publisher of art literature.
Through diverse publications, including monographs, artists’ books, and exhibition catalogues, the gallery has preserved and documented the stories of Malaysian artists. The core aim of the 10,000 Books Project initiative was to deepen young minds’ understanding and appreciation of Malaysian art and artists by providing insights into the journeys of progressive contemporary artists, thereby nurturing a generation that values and celebrates Malaysia’s artistic heritage. These are some educational institutions that were selected; swipe through to read their thoughts about it.

Malaysian Institute of Art commends Wei-Ling Gallery for their generous donation of 80 books, enriching our library with past art exhibition materials. This project underlines the importance of sharing resources with the arts community and fostering a culture of accessibility and knowledge exchange.

The 10,000 Books Programme has been an excellent addition to our Art collections throughout our three Libraries here at Marlborough College Malaysia. It has been especially wonderful to see that Malaysian artists are being promoted within the country, and we have been delighted by the inspiring talent which is on show in every volume which the Gallery has been so kind as to donate to us.

These books have already been examined closely by our Art teachers and students, and we look forward to the prospect of these titles encouraging the artistic and creative development of our pupils.
