LEADING printmaker Kim Ng will hold his fifth solo art exhibition, “An Idyllic Space”, at Wei-Ling Gallery in Jalan Scott, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

The exhibition from March 9 to April 3 explores modern living and investigates how people interact with their environment.

It is also Ng’s voyage of self-discovery, as his works are imbued with nostalgic references which narrate his idyllic childhood spent in a small town.

The exhibition explores the notion of “place and space”.

Ng records events and activities of his childhood and juxtaposes these images to construct “new places” in his artworks.
He describes the exhibition as “an attempt to construct an idealised world with its true identity destroyed and replaced with a new, visual form”.

The artist calls it “a desire to find Utopia through rose-tinted glasses” which allows the viewer to “escape into the beauty of a perfect world”.

The exhibition opens daily (noon to 7pm from Mondays — Fridays; 10am to 5pm on Saturdays) except Sundays and public holidays.
