Fiberspace
Claudia Bueno
Wei-Ling Gallery, in collaboration with Glenmorangie, presents Claudia Bueno, a contemporary light artist from Venezuela. Showing from 30th July to 30th October 2013, the much anticipated project entitled Fiberspace has been eight months in the making and will be a site-specific light installation that will engulf three levels of Wei-Ling Gallery in Brickfields.
Fiberspace will include video and sculpture installations and light projections that will transport viewers into Claudia Bueno’s world. This is the first time a site-specific light installation of this magnitude has taken place in a private gallery in Kuala Lumpur, and we are proud and excited to host and present it.
Claudia’s previous installation held at Wei-Ling Contemporary last February, which featured Forgotten Cities and Extracto, incorporated light, shadows and depth, which personally marked a revolutionary time for the artist. The main theme centered on her experience travelling and settling down in Southeast Asia, a foreign place, yet one reminiscent of her life in South America where the surroundings are similarly not as polished and clean. These shared qualities played out as a blessing in disguise, as it allowed the artist to peek into its rich heritage surrounded by modernity.
Fiberspace shall witness the gallery space being inhabited by intrinsic filament structures made with hardened string to recreate patterns of organic growth and natural life. Video projections of fire and water waves will animate these structures providing the experience of abstracting ourselves to travel inside our own nervous system, sensing the electricity and the impulses that travel through the fibers.
Claudia has displayed her work internationally from Latin America to Switzerland and the United States, with her last showing having taken place in Wei-Ling Contemporary, Kuala Lumpur. Fiberspace is a captivating and enthralling feat not to be missed, and we very much look forward to seeing you there!
Claudia Bueno’s light installation begins showing at Wei-Ling Gallery on the 30th of July until the 30th of October 2013.
