Mixed hanging Contemporary Art
Our new mixed hanging at Wei-Ling Contemporary features a selection of works by both contemporary Malaysian and international names. The exhibition features past and recent artworks by artists Amin Gulgee, Anurendra Jegadeva, Chen Wei Meng, Cheong Kiet Cheng, Dadang Christanto, Hamidi Hadi , Ivan Lam, Rajinder Singh & Zulkifli Yusoff, amongst others.
The exhibition highlights a new work by Ivan Lam, Hello (2021). Using party table cloths as medium instead of canvases, the work highlights the way are constantly playing games in life. In the centre of the painting is a mountain that symbolises the act of climbing and conquering as human nature. The painting also portrays six digits scattered across the image, turning anticlockwise, as if showing us the little time we have left in the world. “At times, it seems that we make deals with the devil. We are constantly being seduced by the promise of being better, prettier, richer.” (Ivan Lam)
