AN art exhibition entitled \u201cMind, Body & Soul 3\u201d is currently going on until April 30 at the Wei-Ling Gallery.
\nThis is the third time the gallery is hosting the figurative art exhibition, and the artists it enlisted this time include Ahmad Shukri Mohamed, Chin Kong Yee, Chong Choon Woon, Hamidi Hadi, Hamir Soib, Jolly Koh, Kim Ng, Marvin Chan and Umi Baizurah Mahir.
\nGallery co-owner Lim Wei-Ling said, \u201cThere is a huge resurgence of figurative arts in Malaysia, and we are celebrating it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is interesting to see the artists employing different approaches to express the same subject. We get the artists out of their comfort zone. For instance, we have artists who don’t normally do figurative arts, but more on abstract or landscape,\u201d she said.
\nThere are more than 20 artworks on display, featuring male and female figures, nude figures, self-portraits and even the absence of human figures.
\nUmi’s colourful artwork \u2018Keep Away From Babies\u2019 contains assorted items but a figure. There are balls, a grasshopper, a bottle, a box, a frog and other objects.
\n\u201cWhile other artists go straight to the point, I try to look from the different perspective,\u201d said Umi.
\nAnother artist, Chin, provides a 360-degree view of a small lane in Seville, Spain in his monochrome painting. \u201cI have drawn myself in the painting and it gave me a strange feeling \u2013 it’s as though I have disappeared into the artwork,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
