WLG@VictoryAnnexe will present ASEAN 5 at their gallery in Penang in conjunction with the Georgetown Festival 2015.

The exhibition highlights the next wave of artists from the Philipines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, whose practice is defined by who they are and how they perceive the world around them. Each artist has already been noticed in their respective countries of origin for the distinctive statements that they make through their works. The exhibition aims to highlight the next generation of contemporary artists from the region-their ideologies, concerns, and perspectives on the world and their place in it.

Participating artists are Vermont Coronel and Derek Tumala from the Philipines, Maitree Siriboon from Thailand, Irfan Hendrian from Indonesia, Wong Lip Chin from Singapore and Chong Kim Chiew from Malaysia.

An exciting line up of fresh new voices from around the region, working in a plethora of different disciplines ranging from sculpture and light installations, to large scale drawings and works in relief, Asean 5 promises to present a new perspective on art from the region.
